Happy 25th Birthday Truman!

Yes, this year was Truman's golden Birthday and he truly is my golden boy. This year his Birthday fell on a Sunday so we split the fun into two days. It took Truman all the way till Saturday to decide where he wanted to eat! I worked that day so when I came home he finally had his mind set on Chinese food. We looked up some articles on the best Chinese food in San Jose and found one called China Wok which was a delicious Mom & Pop place with excellent Chinese food. We ordered house chow mein, chicken fried rice, mongolian beef, and sesame chicken. Truman was especially excited to have lots of leftovers for Sunday!

Truman requested peach cobler with ice cream for his dessert and when he asked for it he specifically asked for and showed me with his fingers that he wants this much peaches {he makes a little pinch with his fingers} and this much topping {makes a couple inches with his fingers}. Well, I didn't quite make it that way, but there was a lot of topping and plenty of ice cream. It was fun to have some family around for Truman's Birthday, we were able to share the dessert with Joe, Tracy, Milo, & Penny. By the looks of the pictures you would almost think it was Milo's Birthday again with how excited he is! It was so cute, that little boy loves fire!

Truman wanted a GPS watch this year as his Bday present to help track himself with his running and biking and traning for triathalons. That little stink though ordered, opened, and was using it a week and half before his Birthday. Can't take my eyes off him for second... So I got him a smaller gift and suprised him with The Karate Kid on DVD which he was very excited about it. He believes it is something that must be in every Weston home and passed on through the generations.

Happy Birthday Truman, you are such a joy to be with and the greatest blessing in my life.

Camping at Ice House

This is old as well, I'm still playing catch-up. Truman & I had never been camping around our home area, only in Utah. So we decided it would be fun to go camping before we moved to the bay area. We camped at Ice House at the Northwind campgrounds. Not as cold as it sounds, maybe during the winter... I'm not a huge camper, but decided it would be fun for a night. After this excursion though, I think my new rule is the campground has to have flushable toilets *shudder*.

We enoyed laughing & talking in our $5 dollar camping chairs

Our cool red tent

Truman taking a nap enoying our air mattress. Unfortunately, this was the last time he enjoyed it...and me. It slowly deflated by 2am. Truman turned the pump on at that time (I'm sure our neighbors loved us) to re-inflate it which lasted a few more hours. By 6am we were each trying to sleep stiff as a board on the mattress so as to not wake the other. It felt like a half-filled waterbed, by the time neither of us could sleep anymore and our bums were sunk to the ground, it became a game of loud laughter and bouncing each other up and down. It was hilarious, more like the delirious kind of hilarious though from lack of sleep. haha.

The water was suprisingly not too cold and Truman went for a swim

Our campsite backed up to this, it was gorgeous

Me getting in touch with my nature/cooking self. haha. I am quite the gourment camping chef {jk}. Chili hot dogs and cereal for breakfast. That's my kind of camping! We did have about three smores each though that evening over our three hour campfire. We had ourselves a nature walk, sat around the lake, and both carved each other something out of the drift wood, it was awesome.Truman enjoyed using his boyscout skills to light the fire making a teepee, log cabin, etc. It was fun to forcibly sit there and talk to each other with no entertainment besides ourselves. We talked for hours asking one another get to know you questions and seeing if we were right, talked about our favorites, least favorites, how we met, all that feel good stuff. It was a fun trip, anything is fun with Truman, we'll just double check the air mattress next time. haha.

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

We officially made our move to the bay area on June 30th and are happy to still have some family near by. Joe, Tracy, Milo, & Penny have been great company and we've been able to do a lot of things with them since being here. They invited us to go to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk which is only about 40 minutes away from our place. It was great to get out of the apartment and enjoy friends, food, sand on the feet, and the fun atmosphere that comes along with entertainment parks.

Truman had fun toting Milo around the Boardwalk on his shoulders

Now is this the biggest donut you've ever seen or what? We bought this "Texas Donut" to share for $2.50

It was really good and the quantity did not sacrifice the quality. I haven't had a donut in so long, it was so good! It looks like I'm trying to rip it out of Truman's hands. haha.

Happy Father's Day

I know this post is late, but this year for Father's Day Shelly & I made my Dad a DVD slide show. All of my parent's photos of us kids growing up and the family are not digitized. So, for Father's Day this year I decided to make a special Father's Day movie for him. Shelly and I worked hard finding, organizing, compiling, scanning, editing, formatting, picking music, and just putting it all together. It ended up being about twenty-three minutes long and over 200 pictures & it turned out great. It was organized by a timeline somewhat...just a him and my mom section, individual pictures of all the 5 kids growing up with the last picture of their section with him and each kid. It continued on to life with 5 kids, family vacations, life these days, and then ended with a photo of each kid all grown up, and then all 5 kids together. He absolutely loved it and was very touched. My Dad doesn't cry but I could tell it really meant a lot to him. Father's Day for me is always one of those holidays where you want to do something nice but not quite sure what to do or get... but this, this I felt so good about and proud giving him this gift I had worked so hard on. I knew he would love it and now he can and will be able to watch if for years to come with these preserved memories.

Happy Father's Day Dad :)

Eclipse Midnight Premiere

We were scheduled to move to Santa Clara on June 30th. The next installment of the Twilight Saga happened to come out that same day. My Mom, Shelly, and I all wanted to see Eclipse together. However, to see it together meant the midnight showing the night before moving. Out of all 365 days why did it have to come out on June 30th? haha. My Mom (a die hard Twilight fan --she keeps me updated) bought tickets a few weeks in advance. Even arriving to the theaters by 9:30pm, there were still multiple never-ending lines out the doors for the four screens Eclipse was to be shown on. It was ridiculous to say the least. I can't complain though because at least this midnight showing was in sunny California because for the New Moon premiere I was freezing my bum off for two hours in icy Utah. Luckily, we were seated by 10:15pm (trying not to get trampled as you attempt to find three seats is harder than you think). We were happy with our seats and with the entertainment we brought ourselves. We had each other, magnetic chinese checkers, a deck of cards, UNO, and chocolate chip cookies made my Shelly. The time passed quickly enough and then we got to enjoy the long awaited movie. I thought it was great, there's of course the parts you roll your eyes or you wish they would have added or done differently, but overall, I thought it was great. I was just glad I could see it with my mom and sister, what a treat! Then I had my 5 hours of sleep, my 2.5 hour drive to Santa Clara with a cranky cat (he's going to miss those chickens), 3 hours of moving boxes from the back parking lot up to our second story apartment, and upacking till midnight. Good times!
