Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day

This year I gave Truman a much needed tool box and screw/nail/etc. organizer. He has a smaller toolbox that is pretty beaten up and well used that he has had for about 12 years! It was due time for a newer nicer one.

This was Truman's darling present to me this year. There was a sweet card, 3 roses of different colors, a pink heart balloon that he wrote "Amy + Truman" on, and this cool picture-personalized family proclamation.

Truman and me have been meaning to get a nice frame for our Proclamation and also get a nicer one (our old one got crinkled when we moved because it wasn't framed yet). So this gift was so creative and awesome! He got a great frame and used one of our wedding pictures as the background. It's now framed and displayed on the night stand in our bedroom, I love it.

Pre-Valentine's Day

The week before Valentine's Day, Truman & I wanted to see the new romance film, Dear John, before it was crazy busy on Valentine's Day weekend. It was a really great movie... I loved the actors, the characters, it was touching and heart wrenching. We both really enjoyed it. And now Truman has a "man crush" on Channing Tatum, haha.

Friday of Valentine's Day weekend, I made teriyaki chicken and some yummy pasta salad. After dinner we went to Sub Zero ice cream, which is my favorite ice cream place. It is like no other ice cream chain. There secret is cryogenics, which is the science of using ultra cold to do direct contact freezing. Nothing is frozen before you order it. You are completely able to customize your ice cream with over 25,000 options. You pick your cream, flavor(s), mix ins, topping(s), then it is mixed together in a bowl and frozen with nitrogen right in front of your eyes. It's even just fun to watch. Even with all the options, my absolute favorite is the custard with peanut butter flavoring with brownie and Reese's Peanut Butter Cup bits with chocolate syrup. So bad...but so good! I have been eating really healthy, but this was my indulgence for Valentine's Day!

Afterwards, we went to the dollar theater to see, Did You Hear About the Morgans? It was funny and romantic in the spirit of remembering why you love the person you married, forgiveness, & communication. It was very clean and cute, and Sarah Jessica Parker & Hugh Grant were a funny duo.

Stake Valentine's Day Dance

Truman took me to Carrabba's for dinner, which is a nice Italian Grill restaurant.

Truman & mine's matchy-matchy outfits. Almost identical to our Homecoming attire, but Truman got this dress shirt from my parent's for Christmas, which he looked awesome in!

Our Stake decided to hold a Valentine's Dance which was especially nice with V-Day falling on a Sunday this year. There was a red carpet outside leading into the building, desserts, punch, photo dress-up area, and a live band. It was so fun because the Bishop of our ward, Bishop Bule, plays the bass guitar and played that night with the band (far right). They sounded awesome and played a wide variety of music.

Some of our good friends in the ward, Mark & Laura Butler

Some of our other good friends in the ward, Kristen & Charles Anderton

It was a wonderful night with great food, dancing, music, & friends.

Speaking of Turbo Jam...

Font sizeFor Christmas 2008, I got these home work-out DVD's and have loved them ever since! The creator is a lady named Chalene Johnson. I grew not only to love the workouts she made, but the fun and energizing music she put them to. She is a super motivating instructor even though the video, haha. When we got the gym memberships to 24 Hour Fitness, I was really excited because they did Turbo Kick classes (which is what she created first, 13 years ago, & is the gym version of Turbo Jam).

She has also created Cha'Lean' Extreme (curcuit training), PiYo (mix of Pilates & Yoga), Turbo Fire (harder/faster, more sports training Turbo Kick class) and Hip Hop Hustle (fitness Hip Hop class).

When I was in my Turbo Kick class on Monday, my instructor said that Chalene Johnson (who lives in Southern California) would be coming to Park City on Friday at 6pm & would be doing a class for FREE!

Truman & I made a date out of it --no, I wish he went to the class with me, haha-- but we drove down there, I got to attend the hour class of Turbo Kick and half hour class of Hip Hop Hustle taught by Chalene Johnson and her best friend Monic. Truman went running, exercised, etc. on his own. Then we got some Cafe Rio afterwards for dinner!

The class had about 40 people in it & was mainly filled with some Turbo fanatics (such as I) and Turbo instructors. I have been exercising to her videos for the past year, and taking her classes at the gym, so it was super fun to attend a class taught by the creator. She has a crazy amount of energy and was so fun!

This is her and her friend Monica on the left. They changed into this clothing for the Hip Hop Hustle portion.

My Turbo Kick instructor from 24 who invited me to the event is the girl to the right of Chalene Johnson, named Shukria, she's so fun!

Chalene Johnson & me, Ahh I got a picture with her! She's famous to me! haha.

Excuse the sweaty nastiness, but we all just finished working for a hour and a half of butt-busting cardio. It was so much fun!
