Triathlon #2-Jordanelle

As I entered into the summer, I made a goal to participate in two triathlons. Those who follow this blog know that in June I completed the Provo Triathlon. On August 25, I accomplished my goal and swam, cycled and ran in the Jordanelle Triathlon just outside of Park City Utah. I put a much more significant amount of training into this triathlon. I was very excited because I was able to shave over 7 minutes off my half mile swim and finish 4th in my age division. Overall, I was able to finish 5th place in my age group with a time of 1:29:26.

This is my pre-race reading of the course description.

The Jordanelle Triathlon had aound 800 athletes participating, this is a picture of the transition area, I got lost after the cycling portion of the race.

The run at this triathlon was very challenging with
much more uphill climbing than the Provo Tri.

Yes, I did beat this guy in the finishing leg.

And of course, my best fan, and the best part of finishing the race!

Weekend Getaway to Park City

Since my Birthday was going to be on a Monday this year, and Truman and I didn't have a vacation yet this summer, Truman planned a getaway to Park City, Utah. We both took a half day on Friday, packed our bags, and drove up to Park City to have a fun and relaxing weekend.

On Saturday, Truman and I went up to Olympic Park to see the place where olympians practice in the non-winter months --bob sled, ski jumping, etc.

Truman pretending he's someone from Cool Runnings

There were different teams practicing jumps off these ramps misted water. It was fun to watch them do front flips, back flips, and whatever else they could manage while still in the air, and then land into the water. Oh boy was it good that it was water they were practicing with because landing right on your head wouldn't go over so well if it was on the snow!

I passed California Boards!

I passed California Boards!!!

This is a picture of me sitting in the backseat of my parent's SUV after our 13 hour day of driving up to San Francisco to go take my California dental hygiene boards. Thanks Mom & Dad!

I am proud to say that I just found out that I passed!

And what this means, is that I NEVER have to take a Board again in my life! That is unless Truman decides to drag me to the east coast, which I will try to avoid at all costs --mostly due to that fact that I never ever want to have to take a DH Board again.

Saturday, July 18, 2009 was one of the worst, scariest, and most stressful days of my life! As I waited the agonizing 1 hour and 30 minutes to see if my patient would be accepted (while others were getting there patient's back after a half hour), my pulse was at a constant 120 bpm --which let me tell you is definitely more than twice my resting heart rate. It was miserable, I felt like I would faint any second, and I was literally shaking with anxiety my whole time waiting. When my patient was finally accepted, I ran to go get my dental assistant --my mom-- and I had 2 hours to work on my patient. The shaking let up about 20 minutes later. Let's just say CA Boards was a true test of my abilities with no school facilities, no clinical instructors to help you find a patient and then check them if you think you've found a good candidate. Not to mention CA Boards is only offered in Nor Cal two times a year, so I would be waiting a year to take it again! I am so glad that it is over and done, so when Truman and I move back to CA in a year, all I will have to worry about is finding a job!

Thanks for all the love and support! I am so happy, I passed!!! :)

GO BRUINS!!!

My little sister Shelly, --well, I guess she's not little anymore, but she'll always seem that way to me-- is a Varsity cheerleader at Ponderosa High School. She is now a junior, but started cheer her sophmore year during high school and made the Varsity team then. She is quite the gymnast too and is one of their main tumblers. I am so impressed with Shelly's talent and it was so fun to see her in her cute cheer outfit before practice.

She is so foxy and cute in her ensemble, and much more attractive than I was at her age, haha.
Way to go Shelly, you rock!!! And oh yeah, GO BRUINS! ;)

My 22nd Birthday

For my Birthday this year, my big present was going to Park City for the weekend. Truman also got me (let me pick out & buy, haha) a couple pairs of jeans and some really cute ballet flats too from GAP. I worked at a dental office in Provo on my Birthday from 8am-5pm which kind of stunk, BUT my darling husband helped to make my birthday still special! I barely beat Truman home from work and came home to a vase filled with sunflowers, a sweet love note, and a Happy Birthday banner. Considering I had come home crying from work because it was a horrible and stressful office, Truman really made my whole day. Also, thank you thank you to my Mom, Mom Becky, and Rachel for your sweet cards. For dinner, Truman asked me where I wanted to go for my Birthday, and I had already premeditated Cafe Rio of course. I got my pork barbacoa salad and Diet Coke no questions asked. Afterwards, we caught a dollar movie and on our way home stopped at Wendy's for some yummy frosties.

And now I'm officially old...well, older...haha.
