Milo's 4-year old Birthday Party!

For Milo's 4-year old birthday party, Tracy & I brainstormed a tall rainbow colored cake on the inside and a balloon theme on the outside...

Truman & I drove out to Clovis Friday evening to spend the night with them. I had done all the cake/frosting prep work ahead of time so I could devote Saturday to the decorating.

Lots and lots of making icing, dying of frosting and cakes, rolling out fondant, cookie cutting circles, free-handing clouds, all sorts of things to get ready before the decorating...

The cake was super tall and colorful, very similar to an 'Up' theme with all the balloons

Tracy requested a big '4' on top of the cake, red was just the right color

Cutting into the cake

Huge rainbow slice! I needed lots of help to cut this cake because it was so tall, we divided it into 4 four different cakes.

Milo enjoyed the slip n' slide

Penny couldn't quite get the slide part, but she loved to stand, walk, and run through it.

Joe BBQ'd hot dogs and hamburgers for everyone, very impressive on such a tiny little grill!

Even Penny got a little present from Grandma and Grandpa Weston

Yosemite

Joe & Tracy used to live just 10 minutes away from us, but with Joe getting a job offer with the FBI in Fresno, they're now 2.5 hours away. We drove out there a couple weekends ago to visit them and little Milo and Penny. We have missed them all! Joe and Tracy got Truman this shark tooth necklace for his birthday, Truman felt pretty cool wearing it. We spent the night and then the next morning we headed off to Yosemite with them. After the long...long drive we finally made it! (NOTE TO SELF: don't go to Yosemite the weekend before school starts because everyone else has the same idea).

We went to the Mariposa Grove first with some of the largest sequoias in the world. Miss Penny hitched  a ride on Uncle Truman's shoulders. The kids enjoyed running around and we ate lunches that we had packed that morning.

Milo didn't know what to do with himself with so much unexplored territory. He mostly enjoyed running away from me as I tried to get pictures of him.

Penny decided she wanted to be like her big brother Milo and do some exploring for herself.

I love this picture of Penny

Hide n' Seek

Then it was back to the car to drive another 34 miles to the falls...

 Yosemite Falls from their car

Milo kept saying, "waterfall, waterfall!"

Gorgeous!

Then it was about a 20 minute walk to get up close to the falls...

No we did not make Penny push Milo in the stroller. Not only did we not make her, she was extremely upset if we did not let her push it. Joe and Tracy kept saying that Penny was born in the wrong time period and she should have been a pioneer pushing a hand kart. She walked the whole way there!

Watering the worker girl... You see she still has a death grip on that bar, she was devoted!

Milo enjoyed the streams & wanted to get his feet in and throw sticks into it.

Hard to believe Milo will be as tall as them one day!

We made it!
Thanks for the fun weekend Joe & Tracy!
