Sister Pool Party

Shelly & I decided to have a sister date while I'm still in town. Truman & I have been living at the Weston's till our move to San Jose on June 30, and since they have a pool, we decided it was due time for a pool party.

This is Shelly trying to steal my floatie... I don't think so.

We went to Target, swam in the pool, soaked up the sun by the pool while eating a favorite candy of ours --Hot Tamales, Truman BBQ'd cheeseburgers for us, all ate together outside at the picnic table, Shelly & I watched Mean Girls and then a bunch of Selling New York and House Hunters. It was a productively fun day!

Milo's Birthday Cake!

My sister-in-law Tracy was getting ready for her little boy Milo's Birthday party and needed a little help. I haven't decorated a cake in years so I was happy to volunteer my services! Milo is obsessed with balls, so what better a theme for his Birthday party than "Come Have a Ball with Us!" Tracy & I looked at different "ball" themed cakes and this is a compilation of three of those cake designs. There's bouncy balls bouncing on the side of the cake and a big bouncy ball on top inspired by Tracy's cute invitation.

The invitatation Tracy made on the left followed by three bouncy ball cupcakes on the right.

There were cute ball decorations and beach balls everywhere that the kids got to take home as party favors. So fun!

Milo enjoyed opening his presents in just his diaper and playing with his new toys.
Great party Tracy!

Megan & Rob

This cute couple, Megan & Rob, are the best neighbors Truman & I have ever had! It's been so fun getting to know them over the last year we lived in Canyon Village Condominiums. They lived on the same floor as us and we loved dropping in on each other. It was a common event to get together on Sundays to watch episodes of an old wholesome TV series, "The Waltons". With our get-togethers we've also been known to play Phase 10, Qwirkle, Scattegories, Taboo, Killer Bunnies, & bocce ball with lots of laughing, screaming, and singing. We're guilty of eating muddy buddies, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, ice cream, ooey gooey's, peanut m&m's, left over Easter candy, and getting sick dipping strawberries, bananas, & pretzel sticks into chocolate fondue.
Whenever we were out of town, they would come over to watch Bleu for us, they would even come over just to play with Bleu. We finally deemed Megan & Rob as Bleu's "Godparents". From just knocking on the wall to hangout and getting "stuck in traffic" on the way over, to the long talks in the parking lot on the way up to the apartment, from help with groceries to borrowing groceries, our shishkabob BBQ, and the double date to Red Robin, there have been so many fun and classic memories!

The night before moving, we went to say farewell to our loved neighbors. They made us muddy buddies for our road trip to California. We said our goodbyes, as did Bleu. Thanks for being such awesome friends and neighbors, we (+Bleu) will miss you guys!

Moving from Utah to California

California here we come...right back where we started from (literally). This is old news, but I'm finally posting the picture. With Truman graduating and his job offer in California, we are moving back! We had a 14 foot U-HAUL and a trailer to tow Truman's car. Truman's parents helped us make the journey back to the homeland. Truman and his Dad drove the truck while Becky and I drove my car. This is where we stopped for lunch in Winnemucca. Thank you Mom & Dad Weston!

Oh Truman, I'm so proud of you for all you're doing and all your hard work! So many ridiculously late study nights, ridiculously early study mornings, ( I had many nights of going to bed and waking up by myself), too many group meetings, innumerable study sessions, and look where you are now...Starting July 5th at Ernst & Young, one of the top Accounting firms in the nation! I look forward to this next chapter in our lives in San Jose, CA! Congrats Sweetie!

Triathlon Rancho Seco

My Dad and I race morning. I was stoked that I was going to be able to race with my Dad.
My Dad and I raced in Rancho Seco at the season opener: Tri-for-Fun race. While in Utah I started doing Triathlons and got hooked. They are the only way I stay interested in going to the Gym and exercising each day. Those of you who know my dad, know that he is always up for a challenge, and so when I was home for Christmas he told me that he would like to try a triathlon. So for the next few months we would talk and see who was sticking to the training regiment. Upon graduation I helped my dad get situated with a bike that would work and we stated training together for the last month leading up to the race.

The swim portion went well. I was proud that my dad was able to keep stroke the whole way. This is the part of the race that really tests you. It is a big mental challenge when you have spent hours practicing in a nice clear lap pool to swimming in a murky lake.

My Dad and I wore matching outfits. We had some yellow nike dri-fit tops with some Zoote tri-shorts. My dad swore he would never wear spandex, but low and behold, he finally gave and actually enjoyed them I think.  Our fans (meaning Amy & Mom) called us "Team Yellow".

Starting the bike portion of the race

The Bike portion was 16 miles, this is our return to the transition area to begin the run.  As you can see my dad forgot his sunglasses in the chaos of our first transition which actually play a pretty important role in the comfort level of the eyes during the sometimes windy and sunny race.

My dad loves to run, so the last leg was definitely his forte. As you can see in the picture, I am still trying to find this same passion for running.

I am not going to lie, during the bike portion of the race we got passed by some guys with some very nice, and no doubt expensive bikes; however in the run, where expensive equipment can't buy you seconds --we did our own passing.

One of the best parts about the race were the yips and hollers we would get every time we passed our biggest fans, our wives.  They were such good sports to wake up early and sit around and wait while we raced!

This was the funniest part of the whole race. Since the race is divided up into age groups, my dad and I would not have been able to race. So to get around this I signed my dad up as a 29 year old.  So when we picked up our race packets we would get the same color swim cap so we could start together. Well, after registration you have one of the race volunteers mark the back of your leg with your age. My dad wanted to make sure no one caught on to our little scheme and told the guy "29" and the guy looked and him and asked puzzled, "49"?  and my dad said "No 29", the man apologized and marked his leg "29" as requested. -Classic moment. All in all it was a great experience being able to train and run with my dad. He constantly amazes me that he is in such good shape despite his age and considering his horrific falling of the roof accident 3 years ago, breaking both his legs and his calcaneus, that would surely prevent anyone but my dad in continuing to run and stay in such great shape!
Thanks Dad!
