New Year's Eve was very fun this year! Gale Couch invited the Weston's over for a New Year's Eve/Birthday party for Truman's Mom. The decorations she had were very darling with their 50's flare. Kristine Couch made amazing desserts that were far too tempting, and there were lots of other yummy foods and appetizers. We ate the night away as we played games like 'what is? mine is...' and pictionary awaiting the countdown to 2009. It was a very fun evening!

Merry Christmas

Playing the game 'Would You Rather...' with the Weston family

Lev Weston in the cutest Christmas jammies!

Truman & me drove home to California for Christmas. It wasn't a white Christmas like in Provo, Utah, but a Christmas filled with family and fun! We had good weather for the most part on the way to CA considering it was snowing all three days before we left. We left at 4:45am to try to get a good early start! We had the car all packed, blankets, chains, and filled up with gas and food the night before, and plently of books on tape to keep us company.
Even with all our preparedness we didn't forsee my windshield wipers freezing to the windshield --apparently this happens in places where it snows?? haha. Truman was driving on our way to the freeway, and tried to use the windshield wipers. They moved just fine, the only problem was little pieces of the rubber were missing so whole parts of the windshield were not being wiped haha. Not what you want on a 12 hour road trip from UT to CA in December. After a trip to Wal-Mart our wipers were replaced, and we were back on the road & on our way...or so we thought. Then our wiper fluid was out, so we made another stop at a gas station to buy some more fluid, and then come to find that our fluid is not out-- just frozen, and frozen in the lines, haha. Consequently, it seemed at nearly every gas station Truman was pulling over to wash our windshield. Then it felt as soon as we would pull back on the road, a big semi would splash a bunch of dirty snow on our window making it impossible too see once again. On our 600 mile trip, the lines didn't thaw out until 400 miles, where they magically started working again. I have never appreciated windshield wipers so much!
Besides that, the book on tape, leaving early, and the end prize made it fun. We were so excited to see our families and have a 2 week vacation!

Coolest little sister & me

Shelly, Reis, Amy

Reis opened up these cute rocket ship jammies for Christmas Eve, so Shelly & I quickly ran to get into our Christmas ones. Nothing is more fun than hanging out in your PJ's!

Christmas Eve

For Christmas Eve we went to Rachel & Dave's house to celebrate. They just got this great new house, and had a big cute Christmas tree. Aurora was especially interested in the tree and they had to have it gated off. We had a great dinner there with turkey, ham, cheesy potatoes, rolls, Rachel made some awesome home-made muffins, and lots more. We exchanged presents and got to watch Aurora be very excited about her gifts! It was a fun Christmas Eve!

Oh My Goodness, It's Snowing!

So...this morning I really needed to get some laundry done. We don't have a laundry room in our house, but there is a coin washer and dryer in the house next to us in the basement.
Let's just say, this is one of those days that I really really wish we had a washer & dryer in our house haha. I looked out the window and what did I see? Yep...lots & lots of snow, haha. It was very discouraging in that this is the view from our front door. As you can see, there's no path anywhere, except for University Avenue, which anyone pedestrian should try to avoid unless they want a premature death.

This side wasn't looking so great either. Nothing except the very main road is plowed, and the washer and dryer are behind our house, still no path, haha.
I even called Truman saying, "What do I do?". He chuckled and said, "What do you mean, what do you do?" I said to him, "Well, I've just never seen so much snow, and there's no path, how do I get to the laundry room???" haha. Confused, he said, "well...you just walk there...". I said, "but how, there's so much snow??" haha. He explained, "Amy, there's lots of people walking to classes on sidewalks that haven't been plowed, you just walk through it." I told him, "But but, I don't have boots or anything, and my pajamas would get all wet if I walked in it?" He then said, "You can wear some of my shoes if you want, or wrap bags around your feet? I don't know what you want me to say???" I told him, "I don't know what I want you to say, I just thought there might be some solution, fine, I'll figure it out."
I guess this is just coming from a girl who never has had to walk through snow before. All of my college experience has either been in CA with no snow, or 1 1/2 years here, but I don't go to BYU & walk to classes, I just walk from a parking lot into a dental hygiene school.

This is my car covered in about 4 inches of snow, and it was still snowing. I have a special tool that's a scraper/brush, and it took me forever to clear my car off when I left to go grocery shopping. The snow kept falling on me too, and I was getting soaked haha. I just don't think Amy and snow mix very well... haha.

Whooo, it's cold, but I'm doing good. I can do this... I think...

I finally got over it, and decided to go do the laundry haha. I put on Truman's socks, my shoes, and rolled up my pajama pants. I barely made it... haha.

Tis the Season

It's that time of year again! It's funny because I already feel like it's almost gone. I can't believe it's half way through December, & I know the rest is just going to fly by. I realized it was December 14th on Sunday, and I still had a Thanksgiving table runner, and harvest pumpkin in my house! I was appalled with myself, haha, I was thinking, I might as well still have my Halloween decoration up too while I'm at it!
Truman & I are leaving for California on Saturday (which we are SO excited for!!!), and so for the last week we are here, I figured I better make it festive looking.
My mother is so crafty and made this JOY, star, baby Jesus decoration and gave it to me! I put it over our "fire place" (AKA- old school furnace). It was so fun to have something to decorate our house with :).

Truman especially likes this picture above because of the wood paneling! What could make Christmas better than wood paneling? haha. Anyway, I am the Enrichment leader in our Ward, and we all decided to do a fun Christmas Crafts Enrichment. There are many in our Ward, where this is their first Christmas together, including Truman & me! So the committee & me thought it would be fun to do some ornament and stocking decorating. This is what I have so far. I still want to work on them, I ran out of time at the activity. I need to finish cutting out the rest of the letters for our names & some other touches. Most of my time was spent making sure the activity was going well , and sewing these beads on my felt Christmas tree. It was fun to make, but took a little while! My favorite part of the stockings is the little bells I sewed on the end, haha, how fun is that?!
