Our First Concert! Carrie Underwood

Believe it or not, Truman & I have both never been to a concert. I don't think Mormon Tabernacle Choir counts, so yes, we definitely have never been to a concert. We both have a soft spot for country and Carrie Underwood is our favorite country artist. She has an amazingly unbelievable voice and when we heard she was coming to San Jose, CA, we got very excited.

However, when we went online to get tickets, they were sold old except some very very expensive seats. We mostly forgot about it, but on the day of the Carrie Underwood concert I get a call from Truman asking me if I still want to go? Of course! He found some tickets on Craigslist for a great deal just a few hours before the concert and he went and picked them up!

Billy Currington was the opening band, he was great!

We were about 21 rows up, which wasn't too bad and we were glad we were on the sides because the people on the floor didn't have stadium seating and literally stood the whole time because of the very excited people in the front rows, it was a domino effect.

She did this fun number where she was on the stage singing in this blue Chevy, when all of a sudden it lifts up and starts coming into the audience. It was awesome because the car was on a loop and it came pretty low and went all the way around the auditorium.

It was cute too because the back of the Chevy, instead of saying CHEVROLET, it said C A R R I E in glitter.

She was such a fun entertainer and we had a great time. She sang all the songs we hoped she would, and sounds just as amazing live. Wow she can sing! We both agreed she is probably one of the only concerts we could both agree on going to! It was worth the money and the spontaneous surprise made it all the more fun. We left with ringing ears and spinning heads and didn't get home till about midnight, but it was worth it!

I see the red siren in my rear view mirror...I hear the "whooop"...it was just like an episode of COPS.... well, minus the getting arressted, alcohol involvement, drugs, and a car chase. I got a "citation" for the my registration being expired. After the police officer pulled away, I realized that's the exact same as a ticket, dang it! That's my first one, kind of a bummer. Truman & I have moved 3 times in the last few months and I've changed my address each time for mail, but I didn't realize that the CA DMV didn't get the memo. $177 dollars later I get to have a cool red 2011 sticker. So maybe not as dramatic as a COPS episode, but close enough!

El Dorado County Fair

Truman & I embraced our country side this summer as we attended the El Dorado County Fair in June. We turned on some Tim McGraw music on the way down and we were set.
It's conveniently located in Placerville, only about 10 minutes away from the Weston's. We decided to make a date of it and ate a traditional fair dinner of jumbo corn dogs and shared a lemonade together.
I've always loved all the shops, crafts, products and things to do at the fair. It's fun just to walk around holding hands and pay way too much for an ice cream cone. I guess it's all part of the fair experience, right?
We also enjoyed going to see what the Ponderosa FFA club and other local 4-H clubs had been working on. Steroid rabbits! haha jk. But isn't this rabbit huge?!
They had tons of chickens of different ages, size, and breed. I know the pictures doesn't do it justice, but in the collage above, the lower left and lower right chickens are the biggest chickens I've ever seen!
Cutest llama in the world. Not for sale --we asked. I don't know what I'd do with a llama, but I wanted this one. haha.
These little goats were so cute and kept ba'ing at us. All the animals were fun to see and Truman & I were able to have a classic date close to home.

Nursery Leaders

During our 2 month stay in Cameron Park, we were the proud CP Ward Nursery Leaders. These kids loved it when Truman would read them stories, it was cute! There was never enough lap to go around.
Truman eating with the kids during 'snack time'. They loved listening to him and watching him. We loved bringing them snacks and getting to hear all the cute things kids think and say.
Truman even had his own sippy cup, haha jk, but I did catch him sneaking some sips from an extra one on a fast Sunday.
The future of nursery.... movies! Truman would bring his lap top and after snack time we'd lay a blanket out and play a Baby Einstein or Sesame Street. The kids absolutely loved it. One of them is sitting on my lap in this picture. They would laugh and giggle and would often be upset when their parents come to pick them up because they wanted to stay. Good times! I am currently one of the nursery leaders in my new ward, the Santa Clara Ward. There are so many kids they actually have 3 nurseries to accommodate all the kids. I am one of three nursery leaders for nursery 'c' the oldest of the kids (about 2.5 to 3 years old) and believe it or not, there are 16 kids who regularly attend the nursery I'm over! It's a lot different than these 5-6 little ones we'd watch in the CP nursery, but it's a lot of fun. I miss doing all the Enrichment planning and activities from my last calling as Enrichment Leader, but I guess this is where the Lord sees fit for me. These children have such a sweet innocent spirit about them (most of them anyway haha). I guess you could either call it cute kid heaven or good birth control. Truman and I are really liking our new ward and all the people in it. It's so nice that the church is the same where ever you go. Truman and I haven't made any friends outside of our ward since living in the bay area and it has given us one more reason to be grateful for the church...instant friends. I was immediately given a visiting teacher, who I love! and we have been invited to various social gatherings and attended ward activities. We are grateful for the opportunity in our lives to live in the bay area and both have jobs and have each other.
