Happy Easter!

Looking back on Easter last year...
I was 4.5 months pregnant with Elle and we didn't know what we were in store for! We're forever grateful for the sweet little addition to our family.

This year we had a fun Easter at my parent's home....
My sister Rachel and her sweet family were able to come as well

This cutie River is just two weeks older than Elle. Truman & mine's house is just two streets away from them, less than half a mile! I look forward to seeing River & Elle grow up together.

My sweet Mom made this adorable Easter decorated chocolate silk pie (I get all my craftiness from my mom!). We also had a delicious dinner of honey baked ham, cheesy potatoes, asparagus, and strawberries served on her mother's fancy China. Yum, Yum, & Yum!

"I'm So Glad When Daddy Comes Home..."

There's probably nothing that can make me smile more than seeing Elle and her Daddy playing together. Truman cannot wait to get home to see this baby girl. Elle has quite the early bed time but luckily with daylight savings time, she has been up an hour later. Truman has been insanely busy with tax season but comes home for dinner and some Amy & Elle time (mostly Elle -ha!). Truman loves kissing on her, blowing on her neck chub, tummy, and eating her little feet. She squeals, yells, does spitty sounds, and laughs up a storm. I don't know who enjoys it more, her or him?

Love these two!

Dearest Elle,

You are so sweet. You are too fun.

Your Daddy & I joke that we need to put a 'Kiss Counter' on you to keep track of the hundreds of kisses you get each day. You make our lives absurdly enjoyable.

I love getting you after you naps, nursing you, holding you, squeezing you, playing with you, taking you to the grocery store in the Bjorn, getting the mail with you, doing your hair, dressing you up, reading to you, watching you sleep, watching you play, seeing you do new things, and the list could go on forever.

You grow more and more everyday and I don't know how to make it stop. It is true what they say, babies grow up too fast. You are a little Spring weed, it seems I blinked and you are 6 months old! It surprises me daily how much more you can do. I held you extra tight today on the way back from getting the mail and had to hold back a couple tears from the sad realization of not always getting to do this. Not this, like just getting the mail, but the thought that you may not do the same things tomorrow as you did today. I want you to be my little baby forever but, I so love watching you grow. I've enjoyed all your stages but this has been my favorite. It's not hard to understand why your Daddy & I are crazy about you...

You love your feet and have recently learned you can suck on them, it is quite hilarious to watch

You are getting so strong! You easily hold yourself upright in my arm on my side and love to be carried around

You constantly and unexpectedly tear the grocery list right out of my hand while shopping

You start kicking with excitement when people approach you

You do the silliest fake cough

You LOVE to make spitty sounds by pursing your lips together

When you are tired, you cry instantly when I leave the room

You love your Jumperoo and jump extra when Mommy and Daddy jump with you

You are very interested in doggies

You love your little stuffed bunny Bloomers

You start to get really aggressive with your toys when you get overtired

You love to watch me cook while sitting in your Bumbo & you often end up in my arms

You wake up one to two times a night and occasionally sleep all the way through!

Your Daddy brings you to me every morning and you kick and talk on the bed next to me till I wake up

You make changing your diaper impossible because you insist on holding both your feet

You are hilarious to watch on the baby monitor because you change sleep positions a hundred times a night

You like to sleep on your tummy or side

You still don't like to go down for naps but you take about four a day

You are still in 3-6 months clothes

You love playing with my hands

You have the cutest ice cream cone leggies

When I hold you facing me, you will quickly zero in on a single strand of my long hair and pull it

You make it impossible to wear jewelry but you are truly my best accessory

Thanks you for being you Elle.

Love, Mommy  :)

Emily's 1st Birthday & Special Cake

My niece Emily is officially 1-year old today!

Hayley found this adorable sea foam/minty green dress with yellow sash for Emily's birthday dress. We decided to plan the colors for the party and her special cake after this piece.

I love these sweet pastels especially in this spring season.

The Birthday Girl with her Mama!

Hayley & I had a fun time designing this cake together. We combined different ideas we saw off Pinterest plus the color scheme of the dress to create a fun, happy, and elegant cake.

 Emily's Cupcake

Both number ones were made with rice crispy treats which were cut out, covered in fondant, piped with royal icing, then accented with sea foam colored polkadots.

The 'E' was made with royal icing, took me forever to get it just right!
I hand rolled each pearl in fondant, then brushed them with an edible shimmer pearl dust.

Everything on the cake was handmade either from buttercream, fondant, or royal icing. Lots of work and planning and time, but so happy with the results.

Most importantly Hayley & Emily liked it! Plus it tasted good...always a bonus to not only look pretty but taste it too. The bottom layer was a strawberry cake from scratch and the top tier a traditional funfetti cake!

Hayley & Becky found these adorable polkadots, wrapping paper, table cloth, cups, plates, napkins, utensils, and balloons to go perfectly with the party.

Hayley made these cute pink pom poms!

 Aren't these two just darling?

Becky made a great taco soup for all Jake's family and ours to enjoy... Yum!
