California's Great America

Truman & I have lived in the bay area just over a year now and we decided it was due time we go to the theme park sitting in our back yard. California's Great America is only 10 minutes away so we finally planned to go this summer! Truman got a Friday off work and we got there right as it opened. We hit the big rides first like Flight Deck (formerly Top Gun) and the lines were so short it was great! We went on all the big rides and not too many of the ones that we thought would just make us want to toss our cookies. It was a blast!

Eating lunch at the park under the shade of the umbrellas. It was the perfect temperature... warm and bordering hot with a cool breeze. I was really hoping for some Dippin' Dots for dessert, but the stand was closed. I don't even know where you can buy those except for a theme park! haha.

Truman attempted this... twice... He was so close! A couple more tries and he would have had it, it's way harder than it looks!

Carousel

Swings

Riding on 'The Eagle' gondola across the park right before heading home.

This is by far my favorite picture from the trip. We went on Psycho Mouse and I love the two very different reactions of Truman and me. This was both of our first time on the ride, neither of us knew where the camera was and were not trying to be funny, just honest, caught in the moment reactions. Amy's holding on for dear life while Truman has his hands in the air, haha. It was too classic I finally convinced Truman we had to buy it.

Happy Birthday to My Hunky Husband

Happy Happy Birthday Truman Dear...
Truman's 26th Birthday was on a Monday and he got to open one present before he went to work. He opened a Nordstrom brand work shirt that he is wearing in the picture. I surprised him with 100% whole wheat pancakes with fresh blueberries in them. When he got home from work he got to open the rest of his pile of presents and card. The bottom purple present was "Jeans Shopping". Truman has a difficult jeans size to find and most of his jeans are a little too baggy so I found five different jeans in his size and he was able to go "Jeans Shopping" in the comfort of his own home and found two pairs that looked awesome! Success!

For dinner, Truman wanted to try a new to us restaurant called Krung Thai where we got chicken pad thai and pineapple rice. Yum!

I sang Truman Happy Birthday and this is the after shot of him blowing out the candles and a very curious Bleu kitty. He requested peach cobbler again, but this year I made it with fresh peaches and served with soy ice cream.

And I had to post some hunky pictures of my husband...
...26 and getting cuter every year!

I love you Truman! Happy Birthday!

White Water Rafting

During Shelly's graduation weekend, my parents treated the family to a white water rafting trip. We went with the Beyond Limits Adventures rafting company and braved a half day trip down the South Fork of the American River. It was over Memorial Day weekend and the water was very high and fast and literally snow run off. We all had to wear full body wet suits including booties and jackets and we were very grateful we did.

The rafting company drove us on the bus down to the Chili Bar where we would begin our trip.

Right before starting out trip. Very dry.

We were having a lot of fun rafting down the river. That's our tour guide John in the back. Dave and Truman weren't able to make it into this picture because they were the ones manning the front. Thank goodness someone was haha. We were all laughing and having a lot of fun.

The water levels were very high and some of the rapids were crazy. I almost fell out of the raft 3 times! haha. I'm grateful I didn't though because they kept stressing to us in the safety talk ahead of time to not fall into the river because the water is extremely cold right now and you will get hypothermia in 8 minutes and the wetsuit only gives you an extra 2 minutes before you become hypothermic. So, as you can guess we were all very wary of falling into the freezing water. The water was icy and kept splashing up onto us, we would have all died without our wetsuits! We kept joking to our tour guide and asking if it was possible to get hypothermia in our wetsuits sitting on the raft from all the splashing because we were all so cold. haha.

End picture after having conquered the rapids. Very wet. And totally worth it!

Thanks Mom & Dad for the fun rafting trip!
