Truman has been dying to buy one of these nice kid hiking backpacks long before we had a baby. This trip his dream came true. On our way up to Lake Tahoe we stopped for a hike at Pyramid Creek up toward Horse Tail Falls.
Elle was loving it!
Elle even fell asleep in it! It was like someone tranquilized her, it was a bumpy ride, she was exhausted.
Snack break
On the way back down, we stopped at a perfect swimming hole. Truman jumped into the freezing water and was in heaven.
We hiked a total of about 2.5 hours
We then checked into our hotel and were starving so walked over to the Heavenly shops to find a restaurant for dinner. We got a yummy salad and a pepperoni pizza at Base Camp Pizza Co.

I love her bear bum! Thanks Mom for the cute purple hoodie for Elle. We sat on the grass on shared some Coldstone's after dinner.
We celebrated Truman's Birthday while at Lake Tahoe. He turned the big 28! I can't believe it! For part of his birthday, we took the trail down to the famous Vikingholm in Emerald Bay.
With Elle riding on Truman's back, it totally reminded me of Kronk and Yzma from The Emperor's New Groove haha.
After the tour we ate some snacks by the lake and then all of a sudden a lightning storm started! It was super cool to watch from the water and then huge infrequent rain drops started to come down. We started to head up and right as we were approaching our car it started to pour. We got out just in time!
Elle had a little nap in the hotel room (having a baby in a small little hotel room with you is kind of miserable especially when they have a cold). Later that afternoon it was still sprinkling, but Truman had a bike trail planned for all of us to go on so we headed out. Luckily it was still around 75-80 degrees, just enough to be perfectly comfortable with a hoodie. Truman's bike 'Mango', my bike 'Blue Ice', and Elle's chariot 'Pony Express' were champs on the wet roads and we all had a great time.
Elle obsessed with her flag
Elle even got to hold her flag while riding in her chariot
Our hotel was a nice close walk to most of the entertainment and a grocery store. This vacation was definitely different with a baby but we purposely planned a trip we could do all our activities easily with her. Besides the sleeping situation, it was a great trip!
We came home to a sweet little surprise on the door from Truman's Mom for his birthday! :)

It's great you took so many fun pictures, so Elle will one day appreciate her first hiking experience with mom and dad! Good work out too, carrying babykins around! Except for the tiny sleeping arrangements.....looks like a heavenly family trip!
Happy Birthday Tru!
mom
Happy Birthday to Truman! We took baby Lev to lake Tahoe once too and all I can remember is the lack of sleep :) But now we have had all 3 kids with us in hotel rooms when driving from Texas and amazingly, we were all sleeping well within a few feet from each other! It does get better (or you just learn to put up with their constant whining) :/
